What is the role?
LEA's Building Structures Practice Area is looking for a highly motivated, results-oriented engineer who is passionate about designing sustainable buildings. The successful candidate will report to the Practice Area Lead and collaborate with Senior Engineers to grow the services. As part of this role, you will be responsible for delivering commercial, institutional, and residential projects. The Building's team is based in the downtown Toronto office, a few steps from Union Station. It is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to join the team of a dynamic employee-owned engineering consulting firm with a successful track record of projects and strong financial results. In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Support the expansion of LEA’s Building Structures within existing regions and new regions of Ontario as part of LEA’s growth initiative.
  • Take an active role in the Business Development and Strategic Planning processes. Provide valuable insights into the Practice Area and growth prospects.
  • Act as an ambassador of LEA in promoting our expertise and services to current and potential new clients, leveraging previous relationships with current clients as well as building new relations.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and pursue new business opportunities
  • Develop and support the annual Business Plans, Budget and 5-year revenue forecasts.
  • Act as a Senior Project Manager overseeing budgets, schedules, risk management, and project reporting.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and other professionals to ensure the successful completion of project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff to help them grow in their roles.
  • Commit to a high standard of work and ensure quality control reviews are completed for every project.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities within the scope of the Building Structures Practice Area.
 
The qualifications you need:
  • Bachelor of Structural Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of experience in Building projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the Structural Analysis software (such as ETABS, SAP, and SAFE; working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Team player and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
