Transportation Technologist - Data Collection (Contract)

Role Summary
LEA is hiring a Data Collection Technician to join our Transportation Practice Area. This is an excellent opportunity for Traffic and Transportation Technologists who are interested in Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering career opportunities. Training will be provided for equipment handling, LEA will provide tools needed for the position.  Use of a data collection vehicle on some specific projects will be required. The successful candidate will help solve mobility challenges for different transportation systems by undertaking a wide variety of Transportation and Traffic field surveys. This role can turn into full-time employment. Please refer to the duties and responsibilities for more details.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct different types of Transportation Surveys, these include but are not limited to (Turning movement counts, Site trip generation, Parking lot utilization, Vehicle queue length, Travel time and more).
  • Undertake research and data collection by conducting site visits, as well as completing field surveys, recording traffic conditions, and documenting observations.
  • Use various tools and deploy traffic counting equipment to assist various types of data collection methods.
  • Gather information that will help in traffic analysis and producing forecasts for Traffic Impact Studies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities within the scope of the Transportation Practice Area.

 
Qualifications

  • Engineering Technology program, with a focus on Transportation.
  • Travel will be a requirement for this position. A clean driving record is required, as will access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license. In some studies/surveys, a vehicle with data collection equipment will be provided.
  • Flexibility to undertake the surveys during different times of the day and may include working at night and on weekends.
  • Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
  • Team player and able to work independently with little oversight.
  • Proficient with computer hardware and software (i.e. MS Office, Synchro, Adobe Illustrator, Petra-Pro, and GIS-based tools).
  • Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and commendable problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership and ability to coordinate with other data collection staff when required.

 
Vaccination Policy
LEA has a vaccination policy that requires all employees to be vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to entering or working at any of LEA's office locations or project sites. Furthermore, all employees must maintain all future booster vaccines in accordance with Health Canada's recommendation.
