CUTA 2017 Innovation Forum
CUTA partnered with York Region Transit to deliver the “Road to Innovation” forum on November 5th – 7th 2017. This newly designed conference allowed attendees to experience first-hand the many transit innovations that are being implemented across the nation. The CUTA forum offered technical tours, committee meetings, showcases, and much more! LEA was proud to be a Gold Level sponsor of the event, and the occasion was the perfect chance for transit professionals from around the world to see first-hand some of the innovative projects LEA is working on with YRT. Our firm has worked on portions of the VIVA Next Bus Rapid Transit Project and is currently working with YRT as part of a multi-year retainer on various ITS initiatives including a Bus Pedestrian Warning and Avoidance system pilot and CAD/AVL system upgrades for the region’s bus and snow plow fleet. These transit innovations are changing the way people work, play, and live right here in York Region, and we were thrilled to share our knowledge and ideas with fellow leaders from across Canada.
We would also like to thank everyone who joined us at the Digital Tools for Asset Management panel. Where we discussed how Digital Technology is changing the face of asset management and explored tools such as GIS systems for mapping assets, vehicle monitoring tools for catching problems early, and the cutting-edge solutions being used in Asia. We also hope you had the opportunity to checkout the York Region Bus Simulator system on the technical tour. LEA is proud to have worked with YRT on this state-of-the-art bus simulator system that provides training staff with a cutting-edge tool for initial vehicle operator training, post-accident evaluation, and refresher / ongoing training.
