United Way 2017 – Master Chef: LEA Edition

LEA and United Way logos.

Each year, our employees strive to find fun and exciting ways to give back. This year, we partnered with the United Way to put together a week-long fundraising campaign from November 13th to November 17th – “Master Chef: LEA Edition.”

The week before our in-office events, some of our fearless LEA team members took part in the United Way’s annual CN Tower Climb, conquering all 1,776 steps of Toronto’s iconic structure!

Chili Cook-off entrants. Our official office campaign kicked off on Monday, November 13th with a Chili Cook Off!

The participants of the chili cook-off pulled out all the stops to compete in this event – some used family recipes handed down from older generations and others used unique and irresistible ingredients – like chocolate! A donation to the United Way gave all employees a chance to taste test and vote on their favourite chili. Congratulations goes out to Steve Hillier in Markham and John Ford in Toronto for taking home the prize with their delicious dishes!

LEA gingerbread competition entrants. On Tuesday, we put our artistic and structural engineering talents to the test, as teams were challenged to construct a gingerbread house! LEA’s own structural experts voted on the most stable and creative piece. In the Markham office, Hana Bregman, Miranda Liu and Alicia Wong won 1st prize for their inventive and dazzling “Merry Go Round” gingerbread creation. In the Toronto office, Kelsey Waugh, Kevin McKrow, and Carroll D’Rosario earned the victory with their “Multimodal Christmas Village” – a true tribute to the project work of our Transportation Group.

On Thursday, employees were invited to take an afternoon break in the boardroom, where our volunteers displayed their sweet creations. Congratulations to Rebecca Lee in Markham on her delicious Tiramisu, and Amelia Ly in Toronto with her scrumptious White Chocolate Mini Brownies for both winning over the judges’ sweet tooth.

On Friday, we wrapped up our events with a round of Food Trivia! Both of our offices had teams compete and show off their food knowledge. Congratulations to Ric De Guzman, Arthur Zalewski, Danny Tat, Ken Lo, and Anatole Kung for flexing their brains and coming in first place.

Our United Way Campaign drew lots of participation at both of our offices, and we want to thank everyone that took part in organizing and participating in the events.
