Design Review and Supervision of the Thaba-Tseka – Katse Road Upgrading Project

Project Description

In 2025, LASA proudly expanded its global footprint by entering a new market — the Kingdom of Lesotho. We have been awarded the Design Review and Supervision of the Thaba-Tseka – Katse Road Upgrading project by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport – Roads Directorate. This transformative infrastructure initiative, known as LITTL-P, is set to redefine connectivity in the region and is anticipated to be delivered over the next five years. This strategic road project would close the missing link from the Thaba-Tseka district to the Maseru and Leribe districts, which are key economic and export hubs

Project Objective: 
To enhance climate-resilient regional connectivity along the Katse–Thaba Tseka corridor and reduce costs at three of Lesotho’s key commercial borders with South Africa by:

• Reducing travel time along the A8 corridor.
• Improving road user benefits through lower vehicle operating costs.
• Reducing end-to-end border crossing time through smart border systems at Maseru Bridge and Maputsoe-Ficksburg crossings.

 Services: 

• Reviewing and updating the current design with climate resilience provisions and revised cost estimates.
• Reviewing and updating bidding documents to ensure compliance with World Bank Procurement Regulations (Sept 2023 edition) and Standard Bidding Documents, including Rated Criteria.
• Supporting the Employer during the tender process.
• Providing construction supervision, quality control, technical advice, and dispute adjudication support.
• Delivering all post-contract services.
