Project Description

The Pemba Rural road network is located on the Zanzibar Island the semi-autonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa. Zanzibar Island is located in the Indian Ocean at about 25–50 kilometres off the coast of the mainland, and consists of numerous small islands and two large ones: Unguja and Pemba. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre is Stone Town, which is a World Heritage Site.

The Pemba Rural Road network includes upgradation of five different stretches viz. Kangani Road (2.7Km), Kojani Road (1.9km), Pandani Road (7.9Km), Mapofu Road (8.7Km) and Mtabwe/Daya Road (13.8Km) total cumulating to 35 kms.

The Scope of works includes supervision of the construction works in accordance with FIDIC-1999 (Red book) and the amendments thereto as provided in Particular Conditions to meet Millennium Challenge Corporation Standard Bidding Documents for Upgrading of Pemba rural Roads and will in general act as an “Engineer” and as defined in the Works Contract, and render the consulting services at the highest professional standards, and supervise construction of Works on behalf of the Employer, all through the construction and defect notifications period
