Project Description

A World Bank funded study commissioned by the Government of Botswana through the Ministry of Transport & Communication Roads Department (MoTC-RD) with the aim to assist the BITP implementing agencies in the effective management and project implementation capability within the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Gaborone City Council (GCC) and other beneficiary stakeholders in the project area of responsibility. In addition to this developing capacity of Ministry of Transport and Communications by a planned program of internal training seminars and “on-the-job” training that would ensure skills transfer would also be undertaken.

The main tasks being performed include:

  • Review of conceptual and detailed design, specifications and cost estimations of proposed projects;

  • Review of design and specification for the Central Traffic Control Centre (CTC) system;

  • Assistance in traffic engineering, use of Traffic modeling and design software;

  • Preparation of M&E framework/ matrix;

  • Support for the on-going and planned initiatives/ projects under the BITP;

  • Support for implementation of the National Integrated Transport Policy;

  • Assistance in Contract administration, management and claims and dispute resolution; and

  • Transfer of knowledge (Training) Programme through workshops and class room training.
