Science North Thunder Bay

Project Description

LEA was retained to provide acoustic consulting services for the new Science North building proposed at the Pool 6 Waterfront Site in the City of Thunder Bay. The proposal is a purpose-built 3-storey building with exhibit spaces, programming spaces, administrative offices and more. LEA made recommendations for specifications of criteria to create and maintain a suitable acoustic environment throughout the building. The criteria examined for these recommendations include sound transmission, background noise levels and reverberation time and are based on the architectural drawings. The proposed Science North building in Thunder Bay has been reviewed to determine acoustic performance standards. The STC ratings of certain partitions were proposed, along with background noise and reverberation time targets.
