Samuel De Champlain Bridge Now Officially Open

The 3.4km bridge provides a revitalized connection between Montreal and Brossard.

After almost 8.5 million hours of labour, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge was inaugurated on June 28, 2019. The bridge is expected to see almost 50 million crossings a year, along with 11 million public transit users.

LEA was involved early on in the project, selected by SICE Canada Inc. to support the design and implementation of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for the new bridge and corridor. The ITS subsystems to be deployed include: CCTVs, Vehicle Detection Systems, Lane Control Systems, Variable Message Signs, Weigh-In-Motion Systems, Road Weather Information Systems, Emergency Call Boxes, Lane Access Gates, and the ITS communication backbone.

We would like to congratulate the Government of Canada and the Signature on the Saint Lawrence Group on the successful inauguration of the bridge. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to contribute to this historic project.
