The Barrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus is a new $85M project that includes the Barrie Police Headquarters and the County of Simcoe Paramedics Headquarters. The project is being delivered using the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) process which aims to have all disciplines in a construction project work as one firm. The IPD process promises faster delivery times, greater value, and an overall better outcome for all partners. LEA is part of the IPD team that completed the validation study that will form the agreement to complete the detailed design and construction of this state-of-the-art facility. The IPD process helped the team connect the functional requirements to the project budgets. The process was instrumental in identifying shared spaces that led to a reduction in the overall gross floor area of the building. In addition, smart planning and sharing functions helped reduce the building size by close to 15%. Post disaster functions were grouped into one building to reduce the costs of the non-post disaster program areas. The Administration building is targeting LEED Silver certification. Following a series of amendments. City Council approved the Barrie-Simcoe Emergency Services Campus as of July 24, 2017.
