New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project
Client
: SICE Canada Inc.
Location
: Canada
Status
: Ongoing
Project Description
LEA was selected by SICE Canada Inc. to support the design and implementation of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project in Montreal, Quebec.
This project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in North America involving the construction of a new landmark corridor in one of the largest cities in Canada. The work will consist of the new Champlain bridge spanning 3.4km across the St. Lawrence River, a new 470m bridge for île-des-Soeurs, and widening of the federal portion of Highway 15.
LEA is involved in developing an ITS design that will integrate a suite of innovative technologies to ensure the successful management and efficient operation of the roadway corridor. The ITS subsystems to be deployed include: CCTVs, Vehicle Detection Systems, Lane Control Systems, Variable Message Signs, Weigh-In-Motion Systems, Road Weather Information Systems, Emergency Call Boxes, Lane Access Gates, and the ITS communication backbone.
The bridge was completed and opened to the public in mid-2019, and full completion of the project is slated for early 2020.
